My name is Yvo Wiskerke and I’ve been working as Solution Architect and recently manager of the DCOM practice (Data Center Operations Management). My previous company was VMware at which I’ve spent 4 years with pleasure.

    Hello Yvo,

    my name is Bernhard and I found your entry at the http://www.Saabrina.blogspot.com from Mark Ward.
    The USA one who rebuild his Saab 900 to a EV.
    I had the same idea with my old Saab 900 convertible.
    As you wrote in the blog you will do the same?
    My question is do you have expirience in the meantime ?
    I have found someone in germany Bavaria how has already rebuild some old cars from fuel to elektrical vehicles. (VW Käfer, Fiat 500, VW Lupo…)
    Would be good if you have expierience and great if you willing to share your expierience.

      Hi Bernhard,

      Yes, unfortunately Mark Ward lost his EV in a garage fire.

      I haven’t progressed with my own plans to convert a car of my own, since I’m too busy with selling my house and my job at the moment. The conversion I had in mind was not going to be with a DC motor/controller, but based on an AC setup. The reason is quite simple, you can control the motor based on torque, which makes it drive and control quite similar to the orginal engine setup. Another benefit is better regenerative braking and ‘cheaper’ motor.

      Have a look at the following car from Eric Tischer, http://etischer.com/awdev/
      He converted a VW Passat and managed to get the dash fully operational as well.

    Hello Yvo,
    one more comment to DC or AC.
    There is a new EG regulation for EMV limits.
    I heared it might be difficult in the future to find a TÜV who will
    sign for the rebuild cars.
